Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Somnath Bharti today said that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forms government in Delhi, it would be the death of democracy and added that he would tonsure his head as a mark of protest if such a thing happens. "This is absolutely unwarranted but it was expected anyway as BJP's greed increased even more after they came to power. If they form a government in Delhi, it would be the death of democracy. I will shave off my head to mark that," said Bharti.

"They should have a look at the inflation. What have they done about it? The BJP should try to bring democracy instead of doing this. Delhi people are now in a problem and they are scared too," he added. Earlier during the day, AAP leader Ashutosh said, "It would be unconstitutional if a party that has refused in writing is invited to form government."

Reportedly, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung has sent a recommendation to the President to invite BJP, which has the highest numbers in the Delhi Assembly, to form the government in the capital. Delhi has been under the President's rule since February 17 this year after Arvind Kejriwal resigned as the Chief Minister in protest against the Lieutenant Governor's refusal to allow the introduction of the 'Janlokpal Bill' in the Assembly.
