Soldiers mutilation: After Yogi Adityanath's intervention, BSF jawan Prem Sagar cremated

BSF head constable Prem Sagar, one of the two soldiers who were killed and mutilated by Pakistan at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, was cremated on Wednesday morning after the intervention of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The last rites were performed in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria district​, 11 hours after his body was brought to his village. Sagar (45) is survived by his wife Shanti.​

The family members of Prem Sagar had earlier refused to perform last rites until CM until Yogi Adityanath arrives at their hometown.

The family finally relented after the Chief Minister called a little after midnight and spoke to the soldier's older son, reported NDTV.

"He said he would visit us before the 13-day Shraadh ceremony...he also promised a school and a memorial in my father's name," he said.

Under the cover of heavy mortar fire, a Pakistani special forces team on Monday sneaked 250 metres across the Line of Control (LoC) into the Poonch sector and beheaded two Indian security personnel.

Expressing grave concern over the brutal incident, Indian Director-General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt. Gen. A.K. Bhatt on Tuesday raised the issue of Border Action Team (BAT) camps near the Line of control with his Pakistani counterpart.

Bhatt also raised the issue of fire support provided by the Pakistani posts.

"DGMO Indian Army conveyed that such dastardly and inhuman act is beyond any norms of civility and merits unequivocal condemnation and response," the Indian Army said in a statement.
