More than nine soldiers including four BSF men have been killed on the LoC and IB since the surgical strikes
Seemingly rattled by obliteration of their four tactically placed posts, Pakistani army has extended the shelling to Rajouri and Poonch sectors of the Line of Control (LoC), leaving a soldier and a woman dead, besides injuring another.
"An army soldier has been martyred in Rajouri sector. Ceasefire violation by Pakistan army is being retaliated with massive fire assault," said Colonel NN Joshi, defence spokesperson, Northern Command.
Hailing from Dharan area of Nepal, the 20 year old Rifleman Bimal Tamang is survived by his mother, Nirmaya Tamang. "He was martyred in unproved ceasefire violation by Pakistan," said Lieutenant Colonel Manish Mehta, defence spokesperson, Jammu.
Pakistan army also resorted to heavy shelling, targeting civilian areas in Mendhar sector of Poonch district. A woman was killed and her daughter severely injured, when a shell fired by Pakistani army landed in their village at Golad in Mendhar, this afternoon.
JS Johar, Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, told that, sporadic damages have been caused by the Pakistan shelling in the Galod village. "A lady was killed and her daughter injured in the shelling. There was sporadic damage to the houses and live stock in the area. However, there has been no migration so far," he said.
Pakistan army started a fresh round of ceasefire violations in Balakote sector at 9 am on Monday. They are using long range shells, including 82 mm, having range of 4.5 kilometers, and 120 mm mortars, which have a range of seven kilometers, to target deep into the civilian areas along the LoC.
"There was an unprovoked ceasefire violation from 0900 hours in Balakote sector by Pakistan army using 120 mm mortars, 92 mm mortars, automatics and small arms. It is being responded appropriately and befittingly by our troops," said Lieutenant Colonel Mehta.
While Pakistan army inflicted casualties on the LoC, Pakistani rangers violated ceasefire on the International Border in Hiranagar sector on Sunday night. The firing met with a response from BSF, to silence their guns.
Figures reveal that Pakistan has carried out 60 ceasefire violations across the LoC and IB since Indian army carried out surgical strikes on the terror launch pads in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
More than nine soldiers including four BSF men have been killed on the LoC and IB since the surgical strikes. Four civilians including two women have also been killed and 40 others injured in the Pakistan shelling on borders since September 29.
Figures reveal Pakistani has carried out 57 ceasefire violations on the borders since the surgical strikes on September 29. Official figures reveal around 405 incidents of cross border firing have taken place along the Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir in 2015 killing 16 civilians. Of which 253 incidents of cross border firing have taken place along the International Border and 152 incidents along the Line of Control.
