The political humour and satire that seemed to have vanished into oblivion has made a strong comeback with BJP's historic defeat in Delhi assembly elections.

While mainstream media showed little restraint by going soft on BJP for obvious reasons, there was a no-holds-barred situation on social media. Networking sites were abuzz with users at their satirical best, taking potshots at all, sparing none.

As AAP's tally rose by the minute, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram were flooded with thousands of statuses, jokes, jibes and memes that was peppered with making fun of the BJP, Modi, Kiran Bedi, Congress and Rahul Gandhi.

Hashtags like #AAPSweep, #AAPKiDilli, #DelhiDecides and #KisKiDilli began trending. While there were 81,000 tweets sent out on #DelhiDecides, #AapSweeps garnered 61,000 tweets. The BJP's rout got a total of 2,83,988 tweets, peaking at 794 tweets per minute. AAP's victory got a total of 3,47,760 tweets with a maximum of 940 tweets per minute.

The shock of 67 : 3 drubbing forced BJP supporters to stay out in the cold, who were, just a day earlier, all over the social media.

Showing both Modi and Shah sitting brooding, a caption read: "Vikas tum jahan bhi ho chale aao, tumhare papa aur chacha bahut pareshan hain.... (Where ever you are O' development please come, your father and uncle are very upset)."

Another one read simply: "Humpty-Dumpty had a great fall!!!"

Rahul Gandhi was also the flavour of social media for bringing Congress to zero. Showing Rahul whispering in Sonia Gandhi's ear, a photo caption read: "Mom summer break has begun already. Can I go to Spain now."
Vacuum cleaners and Tata Nanos were in vogue. "Tata Nano has more seats than BJP," wrote Facebook user Dhiren Dukhu. Another user, Mario Jerome quipped, "In other news, Arvind Kejriwal's Wagon R has now more seats than the BJP." "Kejriwal ne dhoka dia, jhaadu bol ke vacuum cleaner chala dia," tweeted @MohdMustadaips.

Rubbing salt on BJP's win on just 3 seats out of 70, a photograph showed their three MLAs riding on a scooter to the Delhi assembly.

Another one said: "Congratulations! Modi government completes 9 months and has delivered development boy Kejriwal."

A tweet on Kejriwal read: "Hitachi launches new washing machine: Aisi dhulai kahin nahi milegi (you won't get such a wash anywhere)" Putting things in historical perspective, another tweet said:
"Kejriwal creates history. Congress becomes history. BJP should learn from history."

Taking a swipe on Modi's invincibility, another tweet said:
"That 56-inch got shrunk, Bedi's magic got shattered! The 9lakh clothes were swallowed by 2 rupee worth Muffler"

As BJP's CM candidate Kiran Bedi continued with her gaffes, like the one about it being historic that the BJP gave her the seat without taking any money from her, it led to scores of jokes dominating the Twitterverse.
