Smriti Irani gets additional charge of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry

Union Minister Smriti Irani was on Tuesday given additional charge of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Ministry following the resignation of M Venkaiah Naidu, who has been chosen as the NDA's candidate for the vice presidential election.
The Urban Development portfolio, which was also with Naidu, has been given to Narendra Singh Tomar, said PMO in a tweet.

Smriti Irani currently holds Textiles Ministry while Narendra Singh Tomar is Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
Venkaiah Naidu was on Monday picked for contesting the poll for vice president in the BJP Parliamentary board. A prominent leader of the BJP, he has also served as its national president from 2002 to 2004
Both as a student leader and political figure, Naidu gained prominence as a brilliant orator, who vigorously championed the cause of the farmers and the development of backward areas.
