A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Thursday reached the official residence of former dairy minister Babulal Nagar accused in a rape case and conducted the forensic examination of the place where the alleged crime was said to have committed. The investigating agency is likely to record statement of the victim on Friday.
In a development related to the matter, the hearing of two petitions in this case was deferred for a week by the Rajasthan High Court. Both Nagar and the alleged victim had filed separate petitions in the court demanding a fair probe in the matter.
While the CBI team was examining Nagar’s official residence, his wife Sunita Nagar along with supporters of Nagar reached there to show solidarity with the former minister.
Friday is likely to be an important day in the matter after the CBI started investigating the case as country’s premier investigating agency would be recording the statement of the alleged victim woman.
Confirming this, CBI spokesperson Kanchan Mishra told dna, “Today (Thursday) we conducted forensic examination of the place of the alleged crime and tomorrow the victim’s statement will be taken.”
After the statement of the victim is taken, the CBI may also summon Nagar for questioning in this case.
Sources inform that the team is also studying the various documents relating to the case which were prepared by the CID during its investigation.
Notably in an earlier FSL report it was reportedly confirmed that ex –minister’s dna extracted from his blood matches that of semen taken off the clothes worn by the woman who has accused him of rape. Meanwhile in the High Court, during the hearing by a single bench of Justice Banwarilal Sharma, petitioners of both the petitions said that as the matter has been transferred to the CBI therefore they want CBI to be made a party to it. On this the court deferred the hearing for a week.
