This is the third major anti-terror operations in the last 24 hours.
Police said based on credible input about the presence of the terrorists in Khar Mohalla of Arwani in Bijbehara district Anantnag, police and security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area
"As the search operation was going on, hiding terrorists fired upon the search party, which was retaliated. In the ensuing encounter, four terrorists were neutralized. The identity of the killed terrorists is being ascertained", said a police spokesman.
Police said incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and investigation has been initiated in the instant matter.
"Citizens are once again requested not to venture inside the site of encounter since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any", he said.
In a separate operation, police and security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the wee hours of Thursday after receiving inputs about the presence of the terrorists at Authoora village of Kreeri in district Baramulla of North Kashmir.
Police said all efforts to motivate the hiding terrorists to surrender provided failed because they refused and instead fired on the search party, which was retaliated.
In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were neutralized. The identity of the killed terrorists is being ascertained.
