Six killed in Kashmir violence

Massive protests rocked the area after the encounter with people taking to streets shouting pro-freedom slogans and denouncing the killing of the young woman.

LeT suffered a setback on Monday when security forces killed three of its Pakistani cadres in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. A 25-year-old mother of an eight-month-old girl was also allegedly killed in the crossfire.

“During a search operation, terrorists hiding in Abdul Hamid Mir’s house fired upon a joint search party. The fire was retaliated, and in the ensuing encounter, three unidentified LeT terrorists were killed”, said a police spokesperson.

Police have recovered three AK rifles along with other ammunition from the encounter site.

Meanwhile, terror struck the troubled South Kashmir region on Monday when heavily armed militants fired at a Jammu and Kashmir Bank cash Van, killing two guards at Puju Kral Check village of Shopian district. A massive manhunt has been launched to nab the terrorists.
