The Panaji Court has reserved its order for July 13 on the intervention applications filed opposing the anticipatory bail plea of former CM Digambar Kamat and the other four accused in a mining scam case. Activist Kashinath Shetye had filed the intervention applications contending that he wants to assist the court as the SIT's investigation is shoddy.

All five accused along with the prosecution have opposed Shetye's intervention challenging his locus standi. Activist Shetye has filed intervention applications in the anticipatory bail applications of former CM Digambar Kamat, former Mines Director Arvind Lolienkar, former mines official AP D'souza, miners Harish Melwani and Arjun Salgaokar.

Shetye also contended that he is the first complainant in the multi crore mining scam case. Hence, he has the locus standi to intervene in this matter. Counsels of all the accused along with public prosecutor opposed Shetye's intervention plea. The accused contended that Mines Department is the complainant on record and no private party has the authority to lodge a complaint in the case as per law.

The public prosecutor stated that they want to expedite the matter and his intervention will unnecessarily delay the hearing.
