External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday lauded Singapore for acting as a “bridge between India and ASEAN”, and said the country has become a fulcrum for India’s economic and commercial policies.
“Today we are entering a new phase of a strategic partnership...Singapore has becom e the fulcrum of India’s policies to the east of India,” said Jaishankar. He was speaking at the InSpreneur 3.0 — Start-up & Innovation Exhibition along with Vivian Balakrishnan, foreign minister of Singapore.
Talking about India’s move towards a $5 trillion dollar economy, EAM said, “India is exchanging the world today with self-assurance and clarity.”

On Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) he said, “trade agreement is a balance of negotiated interest”. RCEP, a proposed free trade agreement (FTA) between 16 nations was also discussed.
During the Plenary session, the minister recalled that India and Singapore came together in a very contemporary phase, at a time when the world was changing, including India.
