Sindhudurg: FIR lodged against six people for 'social boycott' of couple

FIR was filed against six people from Kudal taluka, including the village sarpanch Madhukar Parab, in Sindhudurg district for boycotting a couple.

Parmanand Hevalekar and his wife Preetam were allegedly boycotted by villagers for opposing traditions.

In order to protest against the 'boycott', Hevalekars staged a dharna with Ganesh idol at the main gate of the Mantralaya building. Taking cognisance of the case, CM Devendra Fadnavis ordered an inquiry into the matter on September 8, which was conducted by additional SP. 

Sindhudurg police on Tuesday filed a complaint against villagers on the grounds of criminal intimidation and hatred.
