Separatist leaders in Jammu and Kashmir called for a shutdown in the Valley to protest against the detention of Hurriyat leader Masarat Alam under the Public Safety Act on Saturday.
Following a case registered in the Budgam Police Station in connection with 'provocative actions' during a rally in c last week, Alam had been arrested by the state police on April 17.
Convicted for organising anti-India protests which resulted in the death of 112 people in 2010, Alam had been released from the Baramulla prison earlier this year, following the PDP-BJP government's policy to free political prisoners who do not face criminal charges.
