Zubair Qayoom of Saderbal in Srinagar outskirts, who was caught on camera while snatching the pistol from one of the two Personal Security Officers (PSOs) of Shujaat, was arrested by the police.

Jammu and Kashmir Police achieved a major breakthrough on Friday when they arrested one of the four suspects involved in the assassination of editor-in-chief of The Rising Kashmir, Syed Shujaat Bukhari.
Police have also formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Central Kashmir Range, VK Birdi, to investigate the case.

Police have also released the CCTV pictures of three masked suspects on motorcycle and sought cooperation from the public in identifying the trio.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone SP Pani said there was a video which was apparently taken by someone at the time of incident showing an individual picking up the pistol and vanishing.
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, said they are investigating the suspect’s role of taking pistol and vanishing. “We need to investigate it further. That is terror crime. We will apprise you about the outcome”, he said.
