The differences between BJP and Shiv Sena seems to have widened after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis chided the latter for bringing the state a bad name due to the protests against former Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri's book launch in Mumbai.

According to reports, the Sena may consider quitting the state government as the party chief is reportedly peeved with Fadnavis on several issues. A leading daily, quoted Sena leader, who wished not to be named, saying, "Yes, it is very, very likely that we may sever ties with the BJP." In fact it may even consider completely pulling out of the alliance which may potentially jeopardise the fate of Fadnavis government.

The report added that Sena is of the view that it may have to pay heavy price in the future, as it believes BJP is rapidly losing popularity in Maharashtra.

On Monday, Fadnavis disapproved Shiv Sena's protests saying the issue has brought disrepute to the state. He said, "We may not agree with views of somebody, but when a foreign dignitary or a diplomat arrives on a valid visa and holds a programme, which is not illegal, it's the duty of a state to provide protection."

Accusing Sudheendra Kulkarni of being a "Pakistani agent", Sena leader Raut had said that blackening of Kulkarni s face was a mild protest." Though the Sena and BJP patched up after their alliance fell apart before the polls, both the parties have been opposing each other on several issues.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena has decided to go it alone in the forthcoming Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation election and not have any tie-up with the BJP. The decision was taken last night at a meeting of senior Sena leaders here, a Sena leader said.
