Objecting to columnist Shobhaa De's tweet regarding Maharashtra government's decision to make it mandatory for multiplexes to screen Marathi films during the prime time slot, the Shiv Sena has given a privilege motion in assembly against De seeking an apology from her.

While De was being her sarcastic best asking whether the government will even ontrol the choice of movie-goers food as they decided where and when they have to watch it, she also professed her love for Marathi films after a priviledge motion was passed by the BJP-Shiv Sena government. Shiv Sena however was offended by her tweets and took out the protests.

Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut told ANI that De's statement insulted Maharashtra. "Shobhaa De's statements are an insult to Maharashtra, an insult to Marathi language and Marathi culture," he said. "If you don't like Marathi cinema, Marathi culture, why do you live here?

"You see, we will make her taste Vada Pav before evening," Raut said.

De however got police protection after she came to know about Shiv Sena protest. The party workers later gheraoed her house amidst police.

Soon after the privilege motion against her was given, Shobhaa De tweeted, "Now a privilege motion demanding an apology from me? Come on! I am a proud Maharashtrian and love Marathi films. Always have. Always will !"

Criticising Maharashtra government decision, Shobhaa De on Tuesday had tweeted, "No more pop corn at multiplexes in Mumbai? Dahi misal and vada pav only. To go better with the Marathi movies at prime time."
