A day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government won the floor test in the Maharashtra assembly through a voice vote, the Shiv Sena will meet Governor C Vidyasagar Rao on Thursday to demand a fresh floor test be conducted for the BJP to prove its majority.

"We have taken an appointment with the Governor and will be meeting him at 4.00 pm. The Leader of Opposition (Eknath Shinde) will ask the Governor to re-conduct the floor test so that the BJP can legally prove that they are a majority," said senior Sena leader Ramdas Kadam.

"The Governor had asked the BJP to prove a majority. But by going in for a voice vote, they have gone against the laws of the country. We being the principle opposition will not tolerate this," Kadam said.

Meanwhile, Sena on Thursday accused the BJP government of violating constitutional provisions by proving its majority amid high chaos and strangulating age-old traditions of the state as it won the trust vote through voice vote amid protests at the state Assembly on Wednesday.
