Mumbai police plans to file a charge sheet in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case in 33 days and wants to put the case before a fast-track court. The police department is also likely to send a proposal to the state government for the appointment of a special public prosecutor in the case, sources said.

According to police sources, in order to get a quick result in the Bora murder, the department has decided to put the case before a fast-track court. The sources said that the home department too is keeping a close watch on the case and hence top brass of the city police, including Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria and joint commissioner of police (law and order) Deven Bharti, are themselves interrogating the accused and other persons related to the case. Maria is due for promotion by September-end.

"We would produce accused persons before the court on Monday and would seek their further police custody. During their police custody, we intend to gather maximum evidences (technical and circumstantial) and witnesses in the case. We are planning to wrap up the case and file a charge-sheet before the court in about 33 days," said a police officer, adding that the department also intended to get a special public prosecutor appointed for this high-profile case.

"Appointing a special public prosecutor is a discretion of the government on recommendation of commissioner of police. In complicated and important cases, special skills are required. In normal cases, we observe negligence during the trial. If the case is sent to a fast-track court, then a speedy disposal of case can be done," said a lawyer.
