Shashi Tharoor flies to New York for son's wedding

Thiruvananthapuram MP and former United Nations Under Secretary General Shashi Tharoor tweeted on Sunday to say he is in New York to attend his son Kanishk Tharoor's wedding to Amanda Calderon. 

Kanishk is an author and writer who is currently based in New York. His articles have been published in leading news dailies like The Guardian, The National, The Caravan and The Hindu. His stories and essays have also been published in the Middle East and United Kingdom.

He is currently working on a short fiction collection, Swimmer Among the Stars: Stories and has previously won accolades for Tale of the Teahouse. This short fiction not only won the Emily Belch award in 2008 but was also nominated for the National Magazine Award in 2009.

His brother Ishaan Tharoor is a foreign affairs writer for The Washington Post.
