Janata Dal United (JD-U) chief Sharad Yadav on Monday alleged that a major chunk of the money invested in poll campaigning by various parties went to the media .

"People talk about electoral reforms in the country. But 50-60% of the money spent during elections, has gone to the media. The very first step of electoral reforms should be investigation into the money that has gone to media. Print and visual media were running into losses, how come they have now come into so much of money?" Yadav said.

Meanwhile, Yadav said they would work towards forming an alternative government that did not comprise either the Congress or the BJP.

"We will try our best to ensure that the government formed is without the Hand (symbol of Congress) or the Lotus (symbol of Bharatiya Janata Party). We are working towards it," said Yadav.
