The 'Save the Constitution' march in Mumbai has a lot of political significance. The fragmented Opposition parties came together and marched under the leadership of Nationalist Congress Party Sharad Pawar on Friday.

Pawar (75) is a senior and astute politician who has friends across party lines. Pawar's party has few Members of Parliament but he still holds influence in Delhi politics. He wanted to become Prime Minister but could not fulfil his dream due to numbers. Now, Pawar is carving his space keeping an eye on 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

"Leaders of Congress, Communist Party of India, JDU, Samajwadi Party, National Conference, Patidar leader Hardik Patel all came together and marched under the leadership of Pawar. In 2019, it has been predicted that it will be a coalition government where no single party will get majority to form government. At that time, Pawar can play a significant role. This march is nothing but a big opportunity for Pawar and NCP to resurge," said a political observer.
