Shakuntla Jakhu takes over as new Haryana Chief Secretary

Senior IAS officer Shakuntla Jakhu on Thursday took over as Haryana's new Chief Secretary. She took over from S C Chaudharyh in Chandigarh, who retired on Thursday, an official release said.

Jakhu, a 1978 batch IAS officer, was earlier serving as Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster management and Consolidation Departments, it said. Second senior most IAS officer in the state, she will have a tenure of just two months as Chief Secretary as she is scheduled to retire on September 30, 2014. 

Sanjay Kothari, senior most IAS officer, 1978 batch, is presently posted as Secretary, Department of Administrative Reforms, Public Grievances, Pensions and Pensioners in the Government of India. Kothari is on Central deputation since October 16, 2006.

Meanwhile, Y S Malik, Additional Chief Secretary Industries and Commerce, Mines and Geology, Electronics and Information Technology and Forests and Wildlife Department becomes Additional Chief Secretary and Financial Commissioner, Revenue and Disaster management and Consolidation Departments.

Roshan Lal, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture Department will be new Additional Chief Secretary Home, Jails, Criminal Investigation and Administration of Justice Departments in place of P K Gupta who has proceeded on leave.

Mahavir Singh, Principal Secretary Environment Department has been given the additional charge of Principal Secretary Public Health Engineering Department, the release said.
