On Friday, in an exclusive interview with Zee News editor-in-chief Sudhir Chaudhary, BJP President Amit Shah spoke about a host of topics including the question of what’d happen if the BJP fell short of a majority.

Dismissing the suggestion of Rafale becoming BJP’s ‘Bofors’ he said: “The thing is they don't have issues, that's why they have to make up issues. Not a penny more has been given. Why hasn't Congress filed a case in Supreme Court? Will Congress give their source? “

Speaking about Ram Mandir issue, he said the BJP was not in favour of bringing an ordinance as of now, when the matter is being heard.

He said: “Ram Mandir is our issue and will remain so till the mandir is made. In court, Kapil Sibal had said we shouldn't hear this till 2019. It's clear who is opposing Ram Mandir.” He added that the BJP was not in favour of bringing an ordinance as of now.

On the attempts at an alliance in Jammu and Kashmir between NC-PDP-Cong, Amit Shah said all of it was just speculation and no letter reached the Governor.

Speaking about BJP’s chances in Rajasthan, he said that it would form the government comfortably.

Dismissing any speculation of a rift, within the BJP he said: “We have no high command. All party workers together decide things. Congress has a high command, we don’t. I have a great relationship with Vasundhara Raje. Party doesn’t win due to one person. Vasundhara is working very hard. I am confident we are coming back in Rajasthan.”

He said in that upcoming state elections the combination of work done by the Modi government at the Centre and CMs like Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan would see them win.

Pointing out that BJP had performed well in Assembly Elections since 2014, he said the BJP would get more seats than it did in 2014.

He said: “In 2019, the voters have decided who will win. Between 2014 and 2018, we have won across states. We had six states, now we have 19. The mood of the nation is same as 2014. We will get more seats and win more.”

Dismissing the chances of a Grand Alliance, he said that instead of photo-ops in Delhi, they should go the people which will increase their chances of getting more votes.

Asked about Karnataka, he pointed out that it was post-electoral alliance and Cong and JD(S) had got votes by badmouthing each other.

Questioned about 2019, he said: “There will be no similar situation in 2019. I don't do drawing room meetings, I talk to people.”

When asked if Modi govt needed to do something to create a 'wave', he dismissed the suggestions saying that BJP would win based on the work it had done pointing out the number of people who had got toilets, gas connections, electricity, bank accounts and houses.

He said that only BJP could give security and development. On the rising prices, he blamed the trade war between China and USA, and that the BJP was working on checking the rise of fuel prices and fall of rupee.

He also said there were no fights between the Centre and RBI, and that they were just discussing things. He pointed out that under Congress – including former PMs Nehru and Indira Gandhi – the grand old party had dismissed RBI governors.

When questioned about Rahul Gandhi’s claims that Modi government ‘panicked’ by removing Alok Verma because he was going to file an FIR in Rafale deal, Shah said that perhaps Gandhi needed a little ‘training’ to come up with accusations. He said: “I don't know who makes Rahul Gandhi's accusations, pretty sure he doesn't do it himself. If he told me, I'd train him a little.”

On the CBI issue, he said that it was fight between two senior officers and for a fair investigation by the CVC, both were sent on leave.
