Calling for re-imagining the mainstream politics in Jammu and Kashmir, 2010 IAS topper Shah Faesal, who resigned the services in protest of the killings and intolerance, on Friday cautioned against presuming that the separatist conglomerate had no role to play in the state.

"There has been lot of anger the way the mainstream has been conducting in last so many years... Mainstream politics will have to be re-imagined. We need to tell the truth to the people. As of now I have no plans of joining any exiting mainstream political party. I plan to go to people, listen to ground whispers, youngsters, important stakeholders of the Valley and the state, and then take a decision," Faesal said.

Ruling out joining Hurriyat Conference, he said that his specialisation is governance and he wants to use his skills as administrator. "Because Hurriyat does not give that kind of opportunity, and very rightly so because they do not believe in electoral politics. We have to accept the difference of opinion. So at this moment I may not be able to do that (joining them)," he said.

Faesal, however, cautioned against ignoring the role of the Hurriyat Conference in the state. "I think we should be able to judge the representative character of Hurriyat if you give them opportunity to fight elections. They have not fought elections. You never know those people who are winning today… We never know whether they will win if Hurriyat contests elections. It will be very wrong to presume that Hurriyat has no role to play in the state", he said

Faesal also favoured discussing taboo words like 'azadi', 'right to self determination' and 'plebiscite'. "If you are in debate with somebody it is okay if you discuss these things. I think mainstream politics need to open its eyes to that vocabulary, re-imagine it and own it. We have asked politicians to deal with Municipal problems and military to deal with political problems. We need to open political space for politicians," he said

Ending speculations about joining National Conference, he said he has a qualification to become MLA or the MP.

"I will be happy to contest upcoming elections. In fact parliament and legislative space is very important. We need well meaning and right people there. We are in crisis situation and it is not time to do politics on the graves of people," he said.

On floating his own political party or contesting independently, he said there is a lot of trust deficit in the state. "The moment you start a party, people say it is sponsored by agencies. The moment you go independent, people say he is an agency person. The moment you join existing parties, people have problem in joining that", he said

Faesal clarified that he would be representing the sentiment as per the narrative of the people once he joins politics. "When you will see me in field, my vocabulary and my representation of the sentiment as per the narrative of the people, I will be talking little bit differently", he said.

Shah Feasal said he has been deeply inspired by Pakistan premier Imran Khan and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and wants to do the redux of their politics in J&K . "I wish if the youngsters of state give me opportunity I would be happy do a retake Imran and Kejrwal in the state", he said.
