Violence against women and sexual harassment at the workplace are serious concerns and the judiciary can play a major role in delivering gender justice, Himachal Pradesh High Court Acting Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir said Saturday.

He favoured creating an environment free of intellectual and emotional inequality and pressure within the society as a whole.

The workshop included 130 judicial officers from all sessions divisions of the state.

It was organised to enhance skills and knowledge and to sensitise the judicial officers on gender issues and to apprise them of the latest provisions relating to gender justice, prevention of crimes against women and the role of judiciary in effective implementation of gender laws.
