Seven die, 2 hurt in road accident in Maharashtra

Seven people, including six members of a family were killed, and two others were left injured in a collision between two vehicles at Chalisgaon Rural area in Jalgaon district in the wee hours of Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Rajendra Chavan (40), Namdeo Chavan (42), Shilabai Chavan (35), Mitesh Chavan (18), Mithun Chavan (23), Shubham Chavan (18) and the two- wheeler rider Pandit Jadhav (55), the police said. Mayur Chavan and Geetabai Chavan suffered serious injuries, they said.

All the six members of the family who died in the incident were residents of Bodare village in Chalisgaon Rural and were going to Aurangabad.

According to the police, around 12.30 am, a four-wheeler had collided with another vehicle at Ranjangaon Phata on Chalisgaon-Aurangabad Road. A man riding a motorbike just behind the four-wheeler also died in the incident.

On getting information about the incident, Chalisgaon Rural Police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to a nearby hospital, a police official said.

A case has been registered in the matter and probe is underway, he added.
