Embolden by the renewed 'azadi groundswell', separatists have asked the PDP MLAs to abandon their president and chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and join the people's movement in Kashmir.

"Mehbooba Mufti has failed, as did Omar Abdullah in 2010. Since she can't stop loss of human lives, her MLAs should abandon her and come back to their people. The red line of such brutal killings transcends political and ideological differences. Introspect and come back to be with your people," said Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani, moderate Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik in a joint statement.

The leaders also advised the mainstream politicians to forgo power and perks and take side of the people. "Stop being the loyalist representatives of murderers of people. Refuse to be the collaborators of the merchants of death whose hands are soaked in the blood of our youth and children. Don't give India a chance to use you as shield to carry out this butchery of Kashmiris," they said.

The three separatist leaders, who are jointly supervising the current agitation, asked National Conference MLAs to abandon their leadership and return to the people. "The same applies to other pro India loyalists the National conference and others. For once support truth! Stop the killings! Kashmiri lives matter!" they said.

Without naming anyone, leaders also issued ultimatum to those who fire and kill people in the valley.

"To the perpetrators, we Issue an immediate ultimatum to stop firing, killing, maiming and blinding people. We declare our resilience in the face of deadly oppression. Every human life matters. The sanctity of life needs to be restored. Children, women and uouth have lost their lives and eyesight. Media have lost count of the toll. it's time not to get dehumanised. Enough is enough! No more deaths!," they said.

Leaders issued an ultimatum on the day when Parliament debated the Kashmir unrest. Additional general secretary of NC and Omar Abdullah's uncle Dr Mustafa Kamal jumped on to the bandwagon and asked New Delhi to stop bloodshed in J&K and accept the UN offer to mediate between India and Pakistan.

"Government of India should stop bloodshed in J&K immediately if it really means good of the people. Side by side, steps should be taken to accept the oft repeated offer of Ban ki Moon secretary general of the United Nations for mediation between India and Pakistan over the problem of Kashmir in the interest of world peace," he said.
