Senior journalist Jehangir Pocha passes away

Jehangir Pocha, senior journalist and Editor-in-Chief of NewsX passed away in Gurgaon on Saturday morning due to cardiac arrest. 

Pocha was born in Mumbai and did his Bachelors in Economics in 1990, followed by MBA in 1992 from the Mumbai University. Later he went to Harward for a Masters in Public Administration.

Paying his condolences, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "I am shocked and saddened to hear about Jehangir Pocha's demise. I pay my condolence to his family in this hour of grief. May his soul rest in peace."

Jehangir was the co-founder of IndiMedia Pvt Ltd, which owns the news channel NewsX.

Pocha was also the Beijing-based Asia correspondent for The Boston Globe, from 2003 to 2007.

“Broadcast Editors' Association condoles the sad demise of senior journalist and Editor-in-chief of News X Jehangir Pocha. It is big loss to the world of TV journalism. Jehangir was a dear colleague of ours and was a guiding force in BEA's activities,” the statement said.

His last rites will be held at 4.30PM at Nigambodh Ghat.

Pocha’s demise was condoled by many in the media industry.
