"If MNS is offering unconditional support to us then it should not put up any candidates in the BMC polls and it should merge itself with Sena," Sena's media wing said.
Referring to the unconditional support declared by MNS to the BJP and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in 2014 elections, the Sena said MNS should do the same now "so that people will trust it or it will prove that MNS' agenda is to take "supari" (contract) of BJP." Turning down MNS' argument that time is not yet run out for forging an alliance, Sena said, "time for MNS has already gone as it was still hopeful for an alliance with the BJP."
"The MNS proposal for alliance with the Sena was aimed at bringing its derailed engine (MNS' election symbol) on tracks," it said.
Meanwhile, senior MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar said his party is lagging behind because of lack of dialogue.
"No party does ever finish. Some times there is sun shine and some times shadow," Nandgaonkar told a news channel while reacting on the large number of defections in his party.
Expressing helplessness over the exodus of cadres, the former MLA said, "How can we stop those who are leaving the party? Those who want to leave shall go anyway. Those who have left have done so due to ego problems and rising expectations."
Citing his example, Nandgaonkar said, "I had left the Sena after telling so in person to late Sena chief Bal Thackeray."
On a query over why he approached Sena for a tie-up, the MNS leader said he got enraged with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis' statement that BJP will show Sena its place in upcoming polls.
Sena had declared to go solo in next month's elections to ten municipal corporations, including BMC, and Zilla Parishads sans any alliance with BJP.
