Security tightened in Manipur ahead of Republic Day

Security measures have been tightened across Manipur in view of the Republic Day boycott called by various insurgent outfits including United National Libertion Front (UNLF). Official sources said round-the-clock patroling was being carried out in different places of the valley districts particularly in valley districts of Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, and Bishenpur.

Security measures have been tightened across Manipur in view of the Republic Day boycott called by various insurgent outfits including United National Libertion Front (UNLF). Official sources said round-the-clock patroling was being carried out in different places of the valley districts particularly in valley districts of Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, and Bishenpur.

All passersby were being check at different places to intercept the movement of insurgents, they said. More than 10 IEDs exploded in different places of Imphal town in the past seven days, they added.
