Fearing a repeat of the Bhopal jailbreak incident in Bihar, the administration has stepped up the security measures at Beur Central Jail where 10 suspected terrorists allegedly involved in 2013 Patna and Bodh Gaya serial bomb blasts are lodged.

The 10 suspected Indian Mujahideen operatives arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), were also in news last month for clashing with the cops on duty and reportedly raising anti-national slogans.

The Patna district administration has requested the Bihar Home and Law departments as well as the Patna High Court for a speedy trial in all cases pending against them, especially both bomb blast cases. Meanwhile, the Patna Police is also making arrangements for holding the trial via video conferencing and has prepared a proposal for it, so that the terror suspects don't have to be taken for appearance at the court every day.

Besides checking and increasing the security of the special cell where the terror accused are incarcerated, more CCTV cameras will also be installed on the jail premises to keep an eye on them, a jail official said.

The jail administration has also reported recent incidents of people from neighbouring houses throwing utility items such as cellphones over the boundary wall into the premises, which has prompted the district administration to order removal of hutment adjoining the jail boundary wall. A list of all permanent residents in the jail neighbourhood will also be prepared by the administration to deter sympathisers and stop such incidents.
