Secunderabad Lok Sabha Constituency: Candidate list for 2019 LS Poll, past results, all updates

Secunderabad is one of the 17 LS constituencies in Telangana. Voting is on April 11 and the counting will be held on May 23.

Secunderabad has seven assembly segments namely Musheerabad, Amberpet, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Sanathnagar, Nampally and Secunderabad.

The seat has seen winners from BJP and Congress in recent years. In 2014, BJP’s Bandaru Dattatreya won by a huge margin of 2,54,735 votes against Congress’ Anjan Kumar Yadav.

In 2009, the results were reversed with Anjan Kumar Yadav winning by a margin of 1,70,167 votes. In 2019, Congress’ Anjan Kumar Yadav will face off against BJP’s G Kishan Reddy. TRS’ candidate is Talasani Sai Kiran Yadav.

Dattatreya, despite being denied a ticket, has vowed to help G Kishan Reddy win. He will have his task cut out.

The 2014 general election was the last election that a united Andhra Pradesh saw, as the state was bifurcated into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana less than a month after the polls. The BJP had 10.5 per cent vote share and won only Secunderabad seat in alliance with Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

Telangana, which has 17 Lok Sabha segments, goes to the polls in the first phase on April 11. They are  Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Adilabad, Zahirabad, Medak, Warangal, Mahabubabad, Khammam, Bhongir, Nalgonda, Nagarkurnool, Mahabubnagar, Chevella, Secunderabad, Nizamabad, Malkajgiri and Hyderabad.

 

In 2014, when the state was formed KCR's TRS won 63 of the 119 the Assembly seats in the state. The TRS also won 10 of the 17 Lok Sabha seats, with INC getting 2, BJP getting 1, AIMIM getting 1 and the YSCRCP ending up with one.
