Search operation in Gurdaspur after sighting of armed men

A retired armed force personnel, Daulat Ram, said he saw seven men in a mango garden when he was returning home on Friday night.

Punjab police conducted a combing operation Khojewal village here after a villager claimed sighting of seven armed men moving in a "suspicious" manner in the area.

Daulat Ram, a retired armed force personnel, told police he saw seven men in a mango garden when he was returning home on Friday night.

Acting on the information, a police team led by Punjab DIG (Border Range) Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh combed the area throughly "but did not find any suspect", SSP Gurdaspur Jagdip Singh Hundal said.

About 70 policemen and two teams of Quick Reaction Team were deployed to trace the suspects, he said.
