Asking the nation’s citizens to search for him in their hearts, and not at political rallies and platforms, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) prime ministerial aspirant Narendra Modi on Saturday said the public needed to pass judgment on the performances of the Shivraj Singh Chauhan-led Madhya Pradesh government and the Ashok Gehlot-led ruled Rajasthan.

Praising Chauhan for understanding the people’s sufferings, and working towards the development of the state, Modi said: “I will not talk of Gujarat. Just compare Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and see the difference. Finding someone like Shivraj Singh Chauhan is very difficult. I have seen his work. I have come here to ask for your votes for the work done by the Shivraj Singh Chauhan Government,” he said at a rally here.

“He (Chauhan) understood your sufferings, and removed Madhya Pradesh from the list of underdeveloped states. And, he did all this without the help of the Central Government,” he added

Reaching out to the people in Mandsaur, Modi said that when people fell ill here, they used to come to Ahmedabad for treatment,” he said

“I come here from the land of Somnath, This is the land of Pashupatinath. Our bond is very strong. I remember my days in the RSS, when people who fell ill in Mandsaur used to come to Ahmedabad for treatment. Don’t try to search for Modi on the stage, Modi is in your hearts,” he added

Recalling the 1977 general elections, where the ruling Congress Party under the leadership of Indira Gandhi had lost to the Janata Party, Modi said the elections were fought by the people, and not by any political party

“We saw the elections of 1977. They were fought not by a party, but by the people. The entire Congress Party was removed. In the last few days, I have been to Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, and I have seen the enthusiasm of the people. I can say that the coming elections are also by the people here,’ he said

Madhya Pradesh is going to polls on November 25, and results would be announced on December 8, along with those in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and New Delhi.
