The State Disaster Response Force today sent two of its teams to the rural areas of Tehri district to provide first hand information on the natural calamities to the locals here.

SDRF commandant P Renuka Devi and Deputy Commandant Navnit Singh Bhullar flagged off the two teams consisting of 15 members each to their destinations in Tehri district, police said.

Both the teams will cover a distance of more than 70 kms and educate locals on tackling natural disasters at their own level in future before security agencies take over relief and rescue operations in the case of a crisis, they added.

Of the two teams, one will visit villages between Suvakholi and Maldevta while the other will tour villages spread over an area of 55 km between Thano village to Marod, they said.

Constituted on the lines of NDRF after last year's natural calamity in Uttarakhand, SDRF personnel have been deployed at all disaster-prone places this year.
