In the national capital, the mercury touched 40.6 degrees
Celsius, two notches above the season's average. The humidity
level oscillated between 63 and 16 per cent.
The mercury soared in many parts of Rajasthan with Barmer
recording the highest maximum temperature of 44.7 degrees
Celsius in the state.
However, some parts in Udaipur division received very
light rains.
Jaisalmer, Churu, Bikaner, Kota, Sriganganagar and Ajmer
recorded maximum temperatures of 44.4 degrees Celsius, 43.5
degrees Celsius, 43.4 degrees Celsius, 43 degrees Celsius,
42.9 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius respectively.
Other stations registered day temperatures below 41
degrees Celsius, the local MeT department said.
Heat intensified in most parts of Odisha with Balangir
being the hottest place in the state at 44.5 degrees Celsius
and the mercury crossing the 40-degree mark in at least 13
places.
Titlagarh was a close second to Balangir recording a
maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius, while it was 43.7
degrees degrees Celsius in Angul, 43 degrees Celsius in
Jharsuguda, Hirakud and Bhawanipatna each, 42.6 degrees
Celsius in Malkangiri and 42.5 degrees Celsius in Sundargarh.
Many districts in Telangana continued to reel under a
severe heatwave with Adilabad today recording the highest
maximum temperature of 44.5 degree Celsius
Nizamabad recorded a high of 43.4 degrees Celsius,
followed by Ramagudam 43.2 degrees Celsius, Medak 42.6 degrees
Celsius and Hyderabad 41.6 degrees Celsius.
In Vidarbha region, Chandrapur recorded the highest
maximum temperature of 45.2 degrees Celsius.
A heatwave swept many parts of Punjab and Haryana with
Hisar turning out to be the hottest place in the region
recording a high of 42.1 degrees Celsius. Narnaul in Haryana
too braved hot weather conditions at 41.5 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab, Patiala recorded a maximum temperature of 40
degrees Celsius.
Scorching heat continued in many parts of Bihar, with
Gaya recording the highest maximum temperature of 43.1 degrees
Celsius while Patna registered a high of 41 degrees Celsius.
