Supreme Court Justice Jasti Chelameswar on Saturday said women need to have sufficient representation in politics to improve their condition in the country.

"Empowerment comes from strength and power. Learn Karate for physical strngth and for social empowerment, you need to have equal say in the political power. There should be a minimum of 300 women members in the Loksabha. Is it not surprising that males have major control."

He went on to suggest that there should be 50 per cent of women elected representatives. At the same time, he clarified that he is not advocating for reservation but of right. He also suggested that women lawyers who were participating in the conference from other states should stay back in Gujarat, launch campaigns, build pressure on political parties to allot 50 percent seats to women candidates, as the state is heading for Assembly polls.

Which can't exist without each other, but the unfortunate thing is "Man hated thinking and not allowed women to think," he quoted Telgu's eminent poet Shriranga Srinivas Rao.
