Ever since Sushma Swaraj assumed office as External Affairs Minister, she has won hearts through her quick and prompt response to help people who are in trouble outside India.
The modus operandi is like this: Someone tweets to Swaraj, informing her that their passport has gone missing in a foreign land; Swaraj immediately responds connecting the concerned person to the Indian High Commission in that country. Action is initiated, and the ministry is hailed for its quick and prompt action.
However, there have been instances where Swaraj is known to be quite savage to some of the people who have tweeted to her. The most recent is one person with the Twitter handle Sushil KR Rai, who tweeted: "Is it safe to travel bali. We have a bali trip on 11.08.18 to 17.08.18. Is it safe? Is their ny advisory has been issued by our govt. Kindly guide us soon.(sic)."
To which, Swaraj replied, “I will have to consult the volcano there.”
Swaraj is known to give brilliant responses. The External Affairs Minister, who had seen unprecedented trolling since the Lucknow passport row in June, on Tuesday gave an epic response to a fairly well-known Twitter user Sonam Mahajan.
Mahajan has over two lakh followers on the micro-blogging site and identifies herself as a TV panelist. On Tuesday, Mahajan took to Twitter and in a sarcastic tweet ‘asked’ Swaraj to block her. ‘Yeh good governance dene aaye the. Yeh lo bhai, achhe din aa gaye hain. @SushmaSwaraj ji, I was once a fan and fought against those who abused you, ab aap please, mujhe bhi block kar ke, inaam dijiye. Intezaar rahegaa (sic),’ she wrote on Twitter tagging Swaraj.
What followed next shows that Swaraj won’t take the Twitter hate anymore. Without much delay, she blocked Mahajan and wrote ‘Intezaar kyon ? Lijiye block kr diya.’
