The family of Vrushabh Maru, one of the accused in the alleged gangrape of a 22 year old in Gujarat’s Satellite locality, on Monday said that they did not know the victim.

They also alleged that the account from which Vrushabh had allegedly sent an extortion message to the victim was a dummy account.
“Vrushabh does not even know the victim. He has never met her. On June 28, cops came to our house looking for Vrushabh and they told us that he was wanted in connection with a complaint of eve teasing,” said aunt of the accused at a press conference held at their residence.
“When we talked to him on phone we asked him if he had teased any girl and he denied. It was only on June 29 we realised that it was a case of gangrape and Vrushab was an accused. We were in touch with him till June 29, 12 pm. We don’t know where he is . He had gone to Madhya Pradesh for his work,” said the aunt.
The father of the accused said that even when they talked to him (Vrushabh), he said he did not know the victim.
“He knows other accused in the case because all three of them were classmates and studied in the same school. But he has never met the victim,” said the father.
“He told us that someone might have used a dummy account or even hacked his account to send the message. We urge the cyber crime unit to check it out,” the family said.
The aunts also raised various questions about the alleged gangrape. Primary among is how can a girl who was so brutally violated with a wooden object being inserted into her vagina so coolly walk into her home and no one would notice. “Do you think if you had a wooden object inserted into your private parts you wouldn’t need medical help? Do you think a girl could portray even a semblance of normalcy after she has been violated so brutally,” questioned the aunt.
The family believes that the girl just gave Vrushabh’s name because he happened to be the friend of Gaurav (the boyfriend of the victim). The family has been living at their present address on rent for the last 3.5 years. The accused’s father works as a driver and they earlier used to live in Ghodasar.
The questions raised by family of the accused:
1. The girl claims she was dumped near Nehrunagar after being raped. How come no one saw a girl being dumped near such a busy place which is not deserted before 10 pm?
2. How is it that a girl who claims to have been raped and brutally violated by a wooden object return to her home and not even her parents noticed anything unusual about her?
3. How is it that a wooden object was inserted into your private parts and you didn't have to seek any medical help?
4. Why is it that the girl can’t remember the date of such a horrific incident? Why is it that she can’t even give the approximate date of the incident if not the exact one?
