Rejecting his bail plea, a city court on Wednesday extended by three days CBI remand of Trinamool Congress MP Srinjoy Bose, who was arrested for alleged complicity in the Saradha scam.

Additional chief judicial magistrate, Alipore court, Haradhan Mukherjee extended the remand of Bose for three days on a prayer by CBI for further questioning. The court turned down the bail prayer of Bose, who submitted before the court that he was unwell and would cooperate with the investigating agency if released on bail. The CBI counsel submitted that Bose's medical check-up had been done every day during his custody since Saturday.

Bose was arrested on November 21 and was remanded to four days' CBI custody when he was produced before the court on the next day. The counsel for Bose had claimed that he was in no way connected with the dealings of Saradha Group and his company Sangbad Pratidin was a mere service-provider in terms of news content and programmes to Saradha group chief Sudipto Sen-owned TV channel for which a fee was charged. The prosecution submitted that huge money had been given to Sangbad Pratidin by the Saradha Group, raised through various schemes, out of which a substantial portion was diverted.
