The minor was abducted while she was waiting for her father outside her school on Tuesday. After being raped, the accused slit her throat with a knife and left her to die.
Sudarshan Gupta, a legislator of the BJP, was caught on camera in Indore's MY Hospital, asking the victim's kin to thank his party MP Sudhir Gupta for visiting them at the hospital to inquire about the minor girl's condition.
Immediately, the parents of the victim were seen nodding and folding their hands before Sudhir.
"Say thank you to the MP (Sudhir Gupta). He has travelled only to meet you (Sansad ji ko dhanyavad boliye, special aapke liye aaye hain)"
Doctors said that the girl is undergoing treatment and was out of danger.
So far, Madhya Pradesh Police has arrested two people in connection with the incident.
Asif (24) was held from Madarpura locality of the city, after Irfan alias Bhaiyu (20), arrested on Wednesday night. Asif, a construction worker, has admitted to raping the girl.
He was booked under relevant sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Further investigation was on, the ASP said.
Earlier on Friday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan condemned the incident and said that rapists were a "burden on the earth" and did not deserve to live.
Meanwhile, locals in the district have been protesting against the incident, demanding death penalty to the accused.
