As soon as the #SaniaMirza controversy of Telangana BJP MP K Laxman criticising Mirza's nomination as the state's brand ambassador erupted, Twitter was flooded tweets filled with outrage, support for the tennis star and critic for the MP's statement. Here are some of the reactions:
Comment on @saniamirza. BJP needs to be reminded that this country shall not allow a systematic undoing of the ideals of its forefathers.

#BJP thinks Indian women are property who belong to fathers/husbands/even the nation. That's slavery. We are not your slaves. #SaniaMirza

Just read about the BJP guy's comments on Sania Mirza. Ridiculous. Sania Mirza jokes are like, so 2008.

Sania Mirza is an inspirational story of India; Grand Slam champ in doubles, singles ranking of 27, gold in Asian games. Problem anyone?

It is not about one Sania Mirza. It is an ideological battle that we have to fight against a sexist, communal ideological mindset.

BJP took 4 decades in accepting Ms Gandhi as India's daughter in law & less than 4 years to accept Sania Mirza as Pakistan's daughter in law
