Investigations into AAP MLA Sandeep Kumar’s case seems to have hit a cul-de-sac, and the police are reportedly clueless about their next move. A case which saw a major political upheaval in Delhi has left cops confounded and it’s believed that Sandeep Kumar might get bail soon.

A TOI report stated that not only have the cops failed to recover the device used to shoot the video, they’ve also been unable to verify the time and date of the video. While the victim claimed that the incident took place last year but the calendar in the video states the year as 2010. The police were further embarrassed because they had asked the court for a 14-day remand of the MLA by invoking the Prevention of Corruption Act. The court criticised the cops for invoking the act and allowed only a day’s custody.

The cops have also failed to identify who circulated the video, and while the house seen in the video has been identified, there isn’t enough proof to back it up in court. The second woman was seen in the video still hasn’t been traced

On Tuesday, the personal secretary of sacked Delhi minister Sandeep Kumar was questioned again on Tuesday by police in connection with the rape case filed against the latter. Sandeep, who is embroiled in a 'sex tape' scandal, has alleged that his personal secretary Praveen Kumar was "blackmailing" him and "threatening to destroy his public image".

Police suspect that the "objectionable" video, which showed Sandeep in a compromising position with a woman, was leaked by Praveen. Praveen was detained by police for questioning on Monday from the Delhi Secretariat and was let off later the same night. He was called again on Wednesday.

While Sandeep has claimed he was innocent and alleged that Praveen had "tried to blackmail" him, police have not been able to find strong clues pointing toward Praveen's role in the matter. Praveen has not been arrested as there is no incriminating evidence against him, said a senior police officer.

Police are also concerned about the video going viral on the social media. "Since the victim has filed a rape case against the accused, police are worried about a possible threat to her," the officer said. Police may seek help from the Cyber Cell of the Economic Offences Wing to halt the spread of the video. The officer said: "The priority is finding the device which was used for making the video. After the device is seized, it will be sent for forensic examination along with the CD."
