Punjab Power and Irrigation Minister Rana Gurjit Singh has submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. 

Though it is is not clear whether Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has accepted the resignation, Rana Gurjit Singh, has confirmed that he has resigned.

Singh was accused of impropriety in the multi-crore sand mine auctions.

“Yes, I have resigned. Now, it is up to the Chief Minister and the party high command to take further action," he told Indian Express.

Singh also said that he had resigned earlier also when his name was dragged into the sand mine auction controversy.

Earlier, he had denied the charges saying neither he nor his company - Rana Sugars Limited - has any direct or indirect stakes in the sand mining business.
