Pradyuman Thakur's father filed a petition before the juvenile justice board on Wednesday and sought the trial of the 16-year-old accused as an adult. The father, Barun Thakur, said the crime was horrific and the accused should not be shown mercy.

The CBI has arrested the Class 11 student of Gurugram's Ryan International School for killing his Class 2 junior Pradyuman on September 8. School bus conductor Ashok Kumar is in jail after being arrested by the Haryana police.

Kumar's bail plea is slated to be heard at a sessions court in Gurugram on Thursday. The juvenile student confessed to his crime, in front of his father and an independent witness, the CBI has told the juvenile court. But on Tuesday, the accused was said to have claimed that he was forced to confess.

The juvenile student was weak in studies and committed the crime to have school exams and a parent-teacher meeting postponed, sources in the CBI have maintained. Teachers had noticed the suspect — reportedly under psychiatric evaluation over anger issues — bringing a knife to school four days before the murder, sources have said. CCTV footage, in which the Class 11 student was seen near the victim minutes before the murder, was also ignored by state police.
