The third edition of Mumbai Ultra 12-Hour Run will be conducted on August 15. This year, the marathon will be spreading a message against terrorism it will be: 'Don't be Terrorized but Run for Fun'.

The marathon is organised by a group of running enthusiasts — Shivaji Park Marathon Club (SPMC). The route for the run will be Shivaji Park-Worli Sea Face-Mela restaurant and back — a distance of 12km. Those running for 12 km will be running in a loop for 12 hours. "Only those who finish the 12-hour run will be called participants, while others will be called supporters," said Nitin Hegde, a member of the club. Talking about the marathon and its concept, Hegde added, "Our aim is to motivate people to run and be fit. The message is that if one person can run for 12 hours, you can run for 12 minutes at least and those 12 minutes will make a difference to your life. However impossible as it may sound, it isn't."

This marathon has no sponsors. According to Joy D'souza, another member of the club: "We shell out all the money from our own pockets. The participant neither has to pay any registration fee nor does s/he win any prize. Everyone will go back with a certificate and some memories." Talking about the concept, Dhananjay Kulkarni of Anti Terrorism Squad, who volunteers for Mumbai Ultra each year, said: "I am very happy this year because the marathon is going to happen on August 15. It is a perfect day when people will wear the colours of patriotism and it will be a brilliant opportunity for the ATS to connect with civilians. Our motive is to spread awareness — people must come forward and report suspicious activities, whether in their neighbourhood or on social media."

Kulkarni, who will be managing the marathon, said, "This year, at least 10 commandos from ATS will run the marathon."
