RSS organising mega meet in Gujarat next week; PM Narendra Modi invited

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his bete noire Sanjay Joshi have been invited for a mega RSS workers camp in Ahmedabad next week, where its chief Mohan Bhagwat will address the participants, the organisers said on Sunday.

Nearly 26,000 Sangh volunteers from Gujarat are expected to take part in the three-day `karyakarta shibir' (workers camp) beginning at Dastan farm on the city's outskirts from January 2. "After a gap of 15 years, RSS is organising a camp in Gujarat from January 2 to 4, where workers from nearly 2,800 villages will take part. Around 25,800 workers have registered themselves for the karyakarta shibir'," Gujarat RSS unit chief Jayanti Bhadesia told reporters here.

The meet is being held ahead of Pravasi Bharitya Divas, to be organised in Gandhinagar from January 7 to 9. "Sarsanghchalak (RSS chief) Mohan Bhagwat and Sarkaryavah (General Secretary) Bhaiyaji Joshi will attend the camp on all three days. Bhagwat will inaugurate the camp and also give his guidance to our cadres," Bhadesia added.

To a query, he said former and present RSS pracharaks (full-time volunteers) from Gujarat - Modi, Joshi and Manmohan Vaidya - among others, have been invited for the event. As part of the mega meet, an exhibition has been organised to showcase India's rich culture and various facets of freedom struggle, Bhadesia said. The exhibition will also highlight issues like environment conservation, impact of global warming and cow protection, among others, he said, adding a 'sant sammelan' (conclave of saints) too will form part of the camp.
