CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury today accused the RSS of making false propaganda on political clashes in Kerala, claiming more Communist party workers than the Sangh activists have been killed in these fights.

"After the new government was formed in Kerala, the clashes between the RSS and the Communist party workers claimed lives of 14 people of which 9 were CPI (M) workers. Then, who is more violent," asked Yechury, who was in Navi Mumbai for a meeting of party workers.

"The RSS is misleading the country with its false propaganda as far as the clashes between CPI (M) workers and the RSS men in Kerala is concerned," Yechury told reporters. Asked about the reasons behind the clashes, Yechury said, "The clashes between the RSS and the Communist party workers have been taking place for the last 40 years. One must not forget that without violence, the RSS can not expand its base in this country.

"Out of the 14 killed in attacks, 9 were CPM workers and still RSS claims there is a 'red terrorism' in Kerala." "There have been several rounds of meetings between CPM state secretary and RSS state leaders in Kerala but they discussed incidents of violence in north Kerala only.

"When it came to discuss other parts in the state, the RSS maintained that the talks should be held with the party (BJP) and not with the organisation (RSS). It clearly shows that they are diverting the issue and are good at it," he said. Yechury said a clash took place between the BJP workers and the CPI (M) activists at Talasari in Thane district in June 2016.

"Our people have been working there for a long time. And if you read the 400 page report submitted to the Maharashtra government by a retired judge, you will find out how RSS backed people, who were active behind the incident. "The organisation uses violence as a major tool for expansion across the country," said Yechury.
