The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has planned a book blitz at the upcoming Delhi Book Fair, which kicks off from January 6, 2018. The Right-wing fountainhead of cultural nationalism has assembled an entire spectrum of 'nationalist' publishers, who will come together on one stall to showcase the literature pertaining to Indian nationalism.
This fair-within-fair has been titled 'Rashtriya Sahitya Sangam' (National Literature Confluence). It has been described by Suruchi Prakashan, as a "joint literary endeavour of nationalist publishers and promoters of Hinduism and Bharatiya culture from across the country".

"Given the number of books that would be showcased in this confluence, we have rented 10 stalls at Pragati Maidan. Recently, there has been a spurt in the number of people, especially the youth, curious to read about the RSS.
Therefore, this would be a place where most of that literature in diverse languages, such as Telugu, Malyalam, and Odiya can be found under one roof," RSS' Delhi Prachar Pramukh Rajiv Tuli told DNA.
Ten publishers from across India and from different linguistic backgrounds will be participating in this sangam. Suruchi Prakashan from Delhi, Archna Prakashan from Bhopal, Sahitya Sadhna Trust from Ahmedabad, Bharatiya Sanskriti Prachara Samiti from Cuttack, Sahitya Niketan from Hyderabad, Gyan Ganga Prakashan from Jaipur, Shri Bharati Prakashan from Nagpur, Kurukshetra Prakashan from Kochi, RSS' prime organisation working in the Valley, the Jammu Kashmir Study Centre from Delhi, and Sanskrit Bharati will participate in the show.
The Right wing has for long been decrying the 'Marxist-Macaulian' bent in the Indian education system as well as the hegemony of such literature in the curricula. Conversely, they have long contested this dominance through several publishing houses, especially in the vernacular and non-English languages. This would be the first time that most of such publishing houses of the country will come together and make a definite pitch against the likes of global publishing behemoths, given the latter's presence at the Delhi Book Fair, which is second only to the Kolkata Book Fair in historicity.
