The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Modi government appeared to have reconciled to a cozy "agree to disagree" relationship.

As part of the coordination mechansim between government and the BJP's ideological mentor, senior ministers will be attending a three-day meeting of the RSS and its affiliates here from September 2.

The RSS brass will be present at the "Samanvya Baithak" in which Sangh affiliates are expected to place their organisational expansion plans and common challenges.

While various wings of the Sangh, including the Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh have conveyed their concerns on various economic and labour policy matters to the government, there was an acknowledgement that neither of them could radically change their stands, sources said.

There has been a continuous process of engagement between ministers and Sangh leaders and various wings even outside the formal interactions. However, the September meet, which comes a little over a year after the Modi government came to power, is a larger exercise.

Incidentally, the BMS is joining the all-India strike called by central trade unions to protest against the government's economic and labour policies on September 2, the first day of the RSS meeting.

Sangh sources said the affiliates may have flagged off concerns relating to their sector, but the final decision-making will be left to government. The RSS will not dictate to government, they said.

They maintained that there while coordination mechanism between the RSS and government will continue at an informal level, there was unlikely to be any formal arrangement.

According to sources in the government, the relationship with the RSS has been cordial and its leaders understood that they needed to give time and space to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The RSS has apprehensions on economic and internal security fronts. Besides this, it was likely to raise concerns about integration, corruption and separatism.

BJP sources said party president Amit Shah had established an effective relationship with the Sangh leadership. With the mechanism of Shah and other party leaders like Ram Lal party general secretary (organisation), coordinating with Krishna Gopal and other leaders in the Sangh, some issues get resolved before reaching the government's doorstep.

When it comes to discussing wider policy matters, it is discussed with senior ministers including Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari, the sources said.
