Rs 40 lakh looted from Syndicate bank in Odisha

In a broad daylight crime, an unidentified youth looted cash worth Rs 40 lakh from the counter of the Syndicate Bank’s Market branch in Rourkela, the steel city of Odisha three days ago. 

CCTV footage showed officials of the Syndicate Bank arriving at the office with cash worth Rs 40 lakh from UCO Bank at 1 pm. Two minutes later, four youths entered into the bank. While three youths covered the cash counter, another youth went inside the counter and took away the cash bag, police said. Basing on the CCTV footage, police have launched a massive manhunt to nab the looters.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the security guard of the bank was not present when the incident took place. While the bank staff have no knowledge about the incident, the branch manager, who joined his duty yesterday, was not able to give details about the incident. The bank authorities have informed the head office about the incident.
